In 2021, unmarked, mass graves of indigenous children were discovered in Canada. "Shadows" is a comment on the impact of colonization and the residential school system, but it's more than that... it is to raise awareness about how the state and church worked to isolate indigenous people from the influence of their own culture and beliefs in order to strip them of their identity and assimilate them into the dominant culture. Check your privilege.
